Afrocats is looking to engage with dance artists who want to develop and build their portfolio of work. You will work with refugee and asylum seeker women and families interested in cultural Dance styles from Africa, South Asia and the Middle East, and creative movement. We Are Looking for Emerging and Established Freelance Dance Artists Freelance Dance Artists Afrocats is looking to engage with female, male, and non-binary dance artists who want to develop and build their portfolio of work. You will work with refugee and asylum seeker women and families interested in cultural Dance styles from Africa, South Asia and the Middle East, and creative movement. This role will be: - Delivering a series or one-off dance sessions in many different settings. - Support and training, if needed, from Afrocats lead dancer. - Working closely with families, women and youth who are both new or have experience in dance. We are looking for someone who is: - Friendly, patient and approachable, with lots of energy. - A good communicator with people who speak little or no English. - Available on weekends and unsociable hours. - Willing to grow with Afrocats. Key Details: - We’d like someone to start as soon as possible with availability through to the end of December. - You will need to complete an enhanced DBS check. - The Fee is flexible and will be agreed upon depending on experience and negotiation. School workshop requests Thank you for your interest in an Afrocats school workshop. Please fill in our booking form, once complete we'll be in touch so we can tailor the workshop to meet your needs. Payment Terms Payments are due within 30 days of the invoice date. There is a 5% late payment fee for payments made more than 30 days past the invoice date. Payment Processing We will send an invoice for each payment. Invoices can be paid online, by BACS, or by cheque. Once payment is received, we will send a receipt. Afrocats Workshop Cancellation Policy If a school or organisation cancels a workshop booking more than 14 days before the scheduled date, there will be no cancellation fee. If a school cancels a workshop booking less than 14 days before the scheduled date, there will be a 50% cancellation fee. If a school cancels a workshop booking on the day of the scheduled date, there will be a 100% cancellation fee. The cancellation fee will be used to cover the costs of the workshop, including the cost of staff, materials, and any rentals. If a school needs to cancel a workshop booking due to unforeseen circumstances, such as bad weather or school closure, the school should contact us as soon as possible. In these cases, Afrocats may be able to reschedule the workshop or issue a refund. Schools are encouraged to book their workshops as early as possible to secure their spot and to avoid any cancellation fees. Refunds Refunds will be processed within 10 business days of the request.

Hafsah Musamod متولی Hafsah has worked in social research since completing a Master’s degree in Applied Quantitative Methods, specialising in widening participation and supporting underrepresented groups. She is currently a Monitoring and Evaluation Analyst for one of the UK’s largest Uni Connect partnerships, leading monitoring, data analysis and evaluation across regional outreach programmes designed to improve access to higher education. Passionate about social justice and equitable opportunities, Hafsah began her journey with Afrocats as a volunteer during her undergraduate studies. She brings expertise in evaluation design, impact measurement and evidence-based practice, alongside a strong commitment to supporting community-led initiatives that empower young people and underserved communities.

- Whitworth takeover | Afrocats
Afrocats will be back at the Whitworth Art Gallery during October half term with our award winning activities for children, young people and families. We'll fill the gallery with African and Caribbean songs as well as delivering our cultural and creative arts and crafts workshops. Afrocats x Whitworth presents: Shimmy and shake through the gallery Half-term activities Each session runs from 12pm-3pm All sessions are free, drop-in, no need to book Join us for three fun-filled days and a vibrant and creative cultural experience for all ages. Shimmy and shake your way through the gallery listening to the cultural music that will echo through the galleires. The Everyday Art School will have different arts and crafts activities each day that you can attend to let your imagination run wild. Led by diverse professional artists, this event is a great opportunity to learn about and celebrate culture. The activities are designed to be inclusive and accessible to everyone, regardless of age or experience. All sessions are FREE, drop-in, no need to book. Everyone is welcome. Volunteer roles Youth of the World Saturday Volunteer We are looking for volunteers to join our fantastic team and support our Saturday sessions. Volunteers will assist our Project Assistants and Artists to deliver with the workshops and support our children . Experience with working with children is essential, desirable experience of working with neurodiverse children. Full enhanced DBS will be provided along with travel expenses for each session.
