Hafsah Musamod متولی Hafsah has worked in social research since completing a Master’s degree in Applied Quantitative Methods, specialising in widening participation and supporting underrepresented groups. She is currently a Monitoring and Evaluation Analyst for one of the UK’s largest Uni Connect partnerships, leading monitoring, data analysis and evaluation across regional outreach programmes designed to improve access to higher education. Passionate about social justice and equitable opportunities, Hafsah began her journey with Afrocats as a volunteer during her undergraduate studies. She brings expertise in evaluation design, impact measurement and evidence-based practice, alongside a strong commitment to supporting community-led initiatives that empower young people and underserved communities.

We work with schools, community groups and organisations across Greater Manchester to deliver creative workshops that help children and adults explore creativity, culture and heritage.  We deliver creative and wellbeing workshops for schools, community groups and organisations across Greater Manchester We'll work with you to develop a workshop tailored to your needs. Black History Month Every October we deliver interactive and engaging workshops that celebrate African and Caribbean culture through art, music, and creative movement. Black History Month is a very busy time for us, so get in touch soon to see how we can work together. Arts and crafts We can adapt our art and crafts workshops to cover topics that support your interests, including: Recycling Nature Space Identity and belonging Cultural identity Cultural dance and creative movement Our two-part dance and movement sessions involve a fun and cultural dance session with African, Caribbean, Middle Eastern movements. This is followed by a relaxing and slow-paced session using varied choreographic techniques. Music and storytelling Using music, singing and storytelling, our workshops will help participants to explore different cultures, identity, and memory using: drumming singing keyboards And more! Wellbeing We deliver wellbeing sessions that aim to create a space for participants away from their worries, unwind and relax. We use a range of techniques including: Yoga Mindfulness Relaxation Working with schools Our engaging workshops for schools takes your students on a creative journey where cultural stories come to life. Each workshop can be part of your school's curriculum, and tailored to meet your needs. Our Natives of the World adult programme supports women to lead happy, healthy and creative lives, where they feel valued for the contributions they make. We work with women who have experienced inequality and trauma, supporting them to build confidence, develop skills and reconnect with their strengths. Many are navigating the asylum system. The women we work with often face isolation and challenges to their wellbeing, including the impact of long-term physical and mental health conditions. Through our programmes, we create space for connection, creativity and rebuilding confidence. 488 women aged 18+ 100% are Black, Asian or from the global majority 15% have experienced domestic violence 92% are currently in the asylum system Over the past year we've worked with Services for adults We help women to develop confidence, learn new skills and feel included. Healthy lives Whether it's shimmying and shaking or walking and talking, our projects support healthy hearts and happy lives. Creative culture We use creativity to support women to make friends, have fun and improve access to frontline services. We Learn Our Creative Learning Lab upskills women so they can start on the pathway to employment and be more internet-savvy. Afrocats will be back at the Whitworth Art Gallery during October half term with our award winning activities for children, young people and families. We'll fill the gallery with African and Caribbean songs as well as delivering our cultural and creative arts and crafts workshops. Afrocats x Whitworth presents: Shimmy and shake through the gallery Half-term activities Each session runs from 12pm-3pm All sessions are free, drop-in, no need to book Join us for three fun-filled days and a vibrant and creative cultural experience for all ages. Shimmy and shake your way through the gallery listening to the cultural music that will echo through the galleires. The Everyday Art School will have different arts and crafts activities each day that you can attend to let your imagination run wild. Led by diverse professional artists, this event is a great opportunity to learn about and celebrate culture. The activities are designed to be inclusive and accessible to everyone, regardless of age or experience. All sessions are FREE, drop-in, no need to book. Everyone is welcome. Our partner For the first phase of our project we worked with The Menopause Charity to provide three workshops about the menopause for 30 women from three culturally specific groups - South Asian, African and Middle Eastern/Arab. Each workshop had volunteer interpreters to support the women to engage in myth-busting, facts and perimenopause.

Afrocats is looking to engage with dance artists who want to develop and build their portfolio of work. You will work with refugee and asylum seeker women and families interested in cultural Dance styles from Africa, South Asia and the Middle East, and creative movement. We Are Looking for Emerging and Established Freelance Dance Artists Freelance Dance Artists Afrocats is looking to engage with female, male, and non-binary dance artists who want to develop and build their portfolio of work. You will work with refugee and asylum seeker women and families interested in cultural Dance styles from Africa, South Asia and the Middle East, and creative movement. This role will be: - Delivering a series or one-off dance sessions in many different settings. - Support and training, if needed, from Afrocats lead dancer. - Working closely with families, women and youth who are both new or have experience in dance. We are looking for someone who is: - Friendly, patient and approachable, with lots of energy. - A good communicator with people who speak little or no English. - Available on weekends and unsociable hours. - Willing to grow with Afrocats. Key Details: - We’d like someone to start as soon as possible with availability through to the end of December. - You will need to complete an enhanced DBS check. - The Fee is flexible and will be agreed upon depending on experience and negotiation. We mentor diverse artists as they develop their creative practice We deliver early career mentoring for artists looking to develop their skills in creative facilitation settings with young people in schools and community groups in: Participatory arts School workshops Theatre and performance art Dance and creative movement Facilitation skills Data and evaluation Our mentees build a strong foundation in how their chosen art form and creativity can support children and young people in schools, community groups and other youth settings. And we work closely with our partners and networks to provide citywide opportunities for emerging artists to develop their skills through schools and different organisations in the charity sector - and beyond.
